Access 2007 is an office suite that provides a mobile environment for accessing data on the go. Acces 2007 Portable aims to bring this functionality to everyone by saving your databases, forms, reports, macros and other data in separate files instead of bundling them all together. This way you can take your most important files with you no matter where you go and be ready to use them right away. The portable version has many benefits over the standard version of Access 2007 so it's worth installing if it suits your needs. It can take up less space, be updated automatically, it allows you to run the program offline without an internet connection, remove the Microsoft Office branding and support future updates to Access 2007.
To use an Access 2007 portable version with your data you need to save your databases and reports in a specific format and then copy them over to the folder that contains the Access 2007 Portable application. For this reason saving is disabled by default and may be switched off. It is recommended that you change the location of where Access saves your data if using an external hard drive or network drive instead of saving on your local hard drive. The recommended location is the Desktop. The Access 2007 Portable application has a feature that allows you to move your data from one place to another without losing it.
My Data Path option
In the My Data Path option choose export from menu and then select "save as" from the list of options. In this menu select "Save in: Desktop (C:)" and in the next window save and exit. Another way to save your databases and data in Portable format is to use Export wizard in Access 2007 Standard Edition which generates a series of files for each database, forms, reports and macros. Using this method you can save your entire database or any component inside Access (forms, reports etc. ) and specify where to save it on your computer. After the wizard runs, you will be able to select any file of your choice and copy it over to the location where the Access 2007 Portable application is installed. Run Access 2007 Portable and your database(s) will appear in the database menu.
